Get your Kids to Sleep Better

Getting your kids to sleep better may not be just about cutting sugar and eliminating the television from their room. If you fear your child is not getting as much sleep as he needs, look for these signs. Is he falling asleep in school? Is he lethargic all the time? Is he grumpier than usual? Does he seem to be falling or dropping things more often? All these are signs of sleep deprivation.
Just because a child is going to bed at a pre determined time every day, doesn’t mean that he is getting all the sleep he needs. If he is spending a couple of hours rolling around in bed, chances are he is falling short of his sleep quota.
So, that can you do to make sure he gets his full 8 to 10 hours?
Restrict television viewing before bed time. The brightness of the TV screen can actually delay sleep by at least a couple of hours.
Make sure the bedroom temperature is cool.
Don’t drive your kids too hard. There is evidence to show that overscheduled kids suffer from sleep problems.
Stick to normal bed times even during week ends.
Last but not least, make sure your child is sleeping on the right kind of bedding. Too many parents focus on getting the latest merchandised bed spreads and pillows for their kids without considering the comfort factor. Custom pillows are great, but make sure that these along with other elements of your teen bedding or kids bedding are designed to support and comfort, leading to a good night’s sleep.
